Arrived in-country Oct. 62.

Of the original 126 who started, 56 signed off two years later.  In 1990, a reunion, organized by Ken Flies,  was held in Washington, D.C.  Approximately 35 members attended.

Comments:

Good to see some old friends from the Lapa area on the list.  Jim Murray has told some good stories though several I remember slightly differently - will have to go back to my old letters.

I note that two of our in town volunteers have died, Loring Wagoner and Paul Onstad. I saw Paul off and on over the years, and we had fun going over the old days.  Jerry Latulip and I have met a few a times with good memories.

I have not been back yet but still have the memories - our company, for whom I still work imports hearts of palm from Brazil, and we export products (imported foods) to several of the supermarket chains.

After Peace Corps stayed on in Rio De Janeiro with USAID

Interesting that you can now purchase 5 year old Cachaça - $35.00 a bottle - hard to believe.  Brazilian music and food is still part of our lives.  I will have to work on some stories to post on this site.
