State:

Pernambuco

Location - Dates:

Camocim de Sao Felix & Recife  69-73

Project:

Ag co-ops (Fecomipe)

Training Groups:

Atlanta and Waco, Georgia

During PC:

Taught literacy, animal husbandry, marketing horticulture products, & never missed a local dance or festa of any kind! My mentor was Paulo Cardoso, now the bishop of Petrolina and surrounding sertão areas. He is still a good friend and we see him once in a while when we get out west. Went on to teach cooperativism in a PC training program and was a volunteer coordinator for the following group of PCV's. Later did some consulting for the World Bank study "The optimum farm size in NE Brazil".

Co-founder of The Clube do Malote (do Cabo), for those who could appreciate the better moments on Rua dos Navegantes (PC escritorio).

After PC::

Worked in Carazinho, RS as a branch manager for Sperry New Holland, later transferred to Goiania in the same capacity, and finally to Curitiba, PR in marketing research for the ag combine manufacturer.  Married a Pernambucana from Recife who gave birth to our daughter in Goiânia. Returned to the states to take over a family farm machinery dealership and ran the company for 25 years. Sold it to the manufacturer and went into real estate sales which is my current profession.

Proud grandfather of two cross culturally indoctrinated grandsons ages 2 and 4.
