Itapecerica da Serra and Socorro

Rural Electrification Program

Training Groups:

São Paulo, SP

During PC:

I was a assigned to two separate electric cooperatives in the state of Sao Paulo. The first 18 months was in Itapecerica da Serra and the remaining 18 months was in Socorro. I also worked with the Fundo Estadual de Electrificacao Rural (FEER).  I was involved in the design, line surveying, construction and energization of electric lines in these two areas. This experience was and still is the best and most gratifying work I have done in the last 30 years.

After PC:

After Peace Corps we spent three months traveling by land from Sao Paulo to the southern tip of Argentina and then north along the west coast of South America to Bogotá, Columbia. What a great trip. Then I entered the business world as an Electrical Engineer working for engineering firms on power plants, and industrial, commercial and institutional facilities. I currently am electrical discipline lead at an Architectural and Engineering Firm in the Twin Cities, MN.
